Lin Zhen Nan was sitting in his second-hand store, casually flipping through a thread-bound book he'd collected.

After a while, Lin Zhen Nan found it uninteresting and decided to take out his cellphone. He began reading web novels on the cellphone's novel platform, finding the online novels far more intriguing.

The weather in September was as fickle as ever.

It was sunny just a moment ago, with the sun at its zenith.

In no time, the sky was covered in dark clouds.

A distant rumble of thunder rolled over.

Lin Zhen Nan glanced at the sky, predicting rain anytime now.

Seeing the strong wind picking up, he shut the glass door of his shop.

He resumed his seat in an old nanmu chair and began reading his book on the phone intently.

The wind outside started to roar, the rain heavily pelting down. The thunder, once distant, now seemed to resound overhead with a deafening boom.

Nonetheless, Lin Zhen Nan remained engrossed in his book, unmindful of the storm outside or the loudness of the thunder!

His shop didn't have much business on regular days, let alone in times of torrential rain like this today.

Lost in his reading, he didn't even notice a large mosquito perched on his forehead, savoring his fresh blood.

The mosquito, now overfed on Lin Zhen Nan's blood, saw its undisturbed host and decided to rest on his body, relieving its lethargy.

Unbeknownst to it, a large spider in the ceiling, spun a web and began to slide down.

The flower spider delicately alights on Lin Zhen Nan's forehead.

The spider opens its mouth, swallowing a mosquito gorged on human blood.

As the spider basks in satisfying ingestion of the blood-filled mosquito, an unexpected thunderbolt resounds in the sky, causing the earth to tremble and bewitching the spider into momentary obliviousness!

The sounding of the thunderbolt also alarms Lin Zhen Nan, who had been engrossed in his novel.

Soon after, the spider encounters a giant palm that descends "slap" onto its body.

In an instant, the flower spider's body shatters under the impact of the mighty palm.

Turns out, Lin Zhen Nan, who had been thoroughly engrossed in his reading, was startled by the thunder and momentarily distracted from his mobile novel.

Even if he was thick-skinned, feeling nothing when bitten by mosquitoes, the landing of the spider on his forehead, due to the size of the spider, still caught his attention.

He felt something crawling on his forehead and instinctively swung his hand in response, assuming it was a mosquito or a fly.

He detests mosquitoes and flies most, and with all his strength, he slapped the spider, causing it to shatter into pieces, the liquids splattering everywhere.

A white fluid seeped out of the spider's body, worming its way into an unnoticeable mosquito bite on Lin Zhen Nan's skin.

Perhaps due to his excessive force, Lin Zhen Nan felt a bit dizzy.

He held his hand up to his eyes and saw the wet, lifeless spider there.

This flower spider is familiar to Lin Zhen Nan.

He has known it for quite a while, as it spins its web in the corner of his room, catching mosquitoes and flies.

Lin Zhen Nan had no idea how long this spider had been living in this room.

Anyway, he never bothered it. His shop collected all types of second-hand items, whether it be second-hand books, calligraphy and paintings, ceramics, wood carvings, all sorts of tchotchkes. It could be beautifully referred to as an antique store, or less glamorously, a junk store.

Therefore, the presence of spider webs in such a store wouldn't strike any customer as odd. Consequently, Lin Zhen Nan never bothered to get rid of it. Plus, spiders had a nickname, 'baby beetle', which made them quite adorable little things.

Speaking of Lin Zhen Nan, he was a man of tranquility, not one for physical exertion.

Thus, this man and the spider had coexisted for quite a few years.

Upon realizing that what clung to his hand was the old spider he had lived with for many years, Lin Zhen Nan couldn't help but feel a wave of nausea, spurring him to throw up.

Suddenly, a piercing pain emanated from between his brows.

As the dizziness in his head intensified, he passed out.

When Lin Zhen Nan came to, he seemed to find himself in an expansive wilderness.

Looking around, he couldn't see a single soul in sight.

Glancing down, he saw a massive spider slowly crawling in front of him.

Lin Zhen Nan was startled, “Isn't this the very same flower spider I just killed? Only, it seems to be many times larger than it was.”

Scratching his head, Lin Zhen Nan mused, “Could it be that we've traveled to another realm? How big of a leap would one's imagination have to make to consider a situation where I and a spider have time-traveled?”

Taking a few steps forward, Lin Zhen Nan kicked the giant spider, “Hey there, flower spider, how do you happen to be here?”

The spider, as big as a soup bowl, suddenly stood up like a person, confronting Lin Zhen Nan.

It batted its big eyes, saying grumpily, "Isn't it because you, a problematic kid, slapped me to death that I'm stuck here? Do you still have the nerve to ask questions?"

Lin Zhen Nan felt a little wronged and had no choice but to ask with an ingratiating smile, "Where, where is this? Did we somehow travel through time?"

The spider sneered contemptuously, "Time travel? Don't be ridiculous, we are clearly inside your mind right now. I really want to suck your brain dry and turn you into a complete idiot."

Lin Zhen Nan hastily tried to appease her with a smile, "Spider brother, don't be angry, don't be angry. I didn't intentionally kill you. I thought it was a mosquito biting me!"

The huge, bowl-sized spider widened its eyes and corrected him, "I'm a female, not your 'brother'!"

Lin Zhen Nan thought to himself, feeling a bit vexed, "So, it turns out she's a female spider demon."

Lin Zhen Nan gave another forced smile and said, "Miss, miss! If we didn't time travel, then how did you get here? You claimed this is my mind, right?"

The spider explained, "Isn't it because you slapped at a mosquito so powerfully that you broke my inner pill? My inner pill, shattered by your force, leaked into your body through the mosquito-bitten wound of yours, and I had no choice but to reside within your mind."

Lin Zhen Nan exclaimed in surprise, "So you are a cultivated spider demon! Does this mean you've taken over my body? Will I become your puppet in the future?"

The spider spirit seemed slightly embarrassed at his remark, she replied hesitantly, "If I wanted to take over your body, wouldn't that be easy for me? However, my skills are not yet fully developed. If it had been another year, then it might be a different story."

Lin Zhen Nan finally breathed a sigh of relief. He patted his chest and thought to himself, Thank goodness this demon is not powerful enough yet, or else I'd directly become her puppet, a truly empty shell of a man.

Lin Zhen Nan tried to placate her again, "Well, miss, fairy lady, do you plan to just reside in my mind on a long-term basis? Wouldn't you prefer to go out into the world? It's so much better out there."

The spider flew onto his head in an instant, spat out silver-white strands of webbing onto his hair, and swung from the threads she was producing, dangling right in front of Lin Zhen Nan's face.

Lin Zhen Nan was somewhat frightened and began trembling.

The spider spirit looked at Lin Zhen Nan contemptuously, "Look at you, pathetic! How am I supposed to leave now? My body is all battered up, thanks to you. Do you know I've been cultivating for 9999 years? I was only one year away from successfully overcoming the catastrophe to become an immortal, or at the very least, I could have become a human-like cultivator. Sadly, at the final trembling moment, one slap from you reverted me back to my original form."

Lin Zhen Nan looked at his palm, thinking to himself, Am I really that powerful?
