Reborn in the 70s: Pampering My Husband

Chapter 2

Su Changhuan's face twitched slightly.

How could she forget that the original host was a self-taught individual who was halfway to being a nurse? She once used Lu Shuyu as a pin cushion on their wedding night!

Back then, under the instigation of her sister-in-law, the original host was told that if she could not consummate her marriage on her wedding night, her act of "warding off bad luck" would inevitably fail. She was even given a long needle and taught a secret method.

If her act of warding off bad luck failed, she would have to return to the nightmarish Su Family home. The original host didn't want that to happen, so she took the long needle, prepared to heal her husband, and thus enjoy her wedding night.

However, apart from piercing Lu Shuyu's leg with two painful holes, it didn't yield any positive results.

Lu Shuyu was not a simple man to gauge just by looking at his face, he was a sophisticated scoundrel.

No one knew what exactly he was thinking. After the mishap on their wedding night, getting his trust would now be far more difficult.

But Su Changhuan was, after all, a renowned divine practitioner. Even in the 70s, she never allowed fear to dominate her.

Summoning her courage, she retrieved a silver needle from the table. Holding it in her hand, her aura changed almost instantly.

Her skillful hands were once hailed as the best in Shengyi Hall, which was considered to be the top Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic globally. With these hands, and her silver needle, Su Changhuan had saved countless patients from the brink of death.

Lu Shuyu watched her movements and noticed her unusual confidence, which was different from before.

Su Changhuan, dressed in a yellowish white funeral attire, referencing an acupoint chart in her gaze. The movements of her hands emanated warmth that flowed to every part of Lu Shuyu's body.

He could almost feel a trace of warmth in his leg that was long numb.

Each silver needle was meticulously sterilized by burning in candlelight – a testament to her extreme caution.

Just when Su Changhuan was ready to apply the needle, a sharp, piercing female voice sounded:

"Curse that Su Changhuan! Come out if you're not dead. Was it you who reduced my husband to this state?" The voice was enough to know that this woman was not one to trifle with.

Reluctantly, Su Changhuan put away her silver needles, opened the door, and let the woman in.

This woman was the wife of Lu Shuyu, her cousin. Her name was Sun Lanzhi, which also made her Su Changhuan's cousin-in-law.

At this moment, anger filled Sun Lanzhi's phoenix eyes. Her words were harsh and insistent:

"Pigs and dogs at least have a sense of self. They repay those who feed them. You, worse than a pig or a dog - Lu Shuheng treated you so well, yet you injured him like this. Haven't you ever thought about karma?"

The worst fate Su Changhuan could envisage was being thrown into a pig cage.

By the sounds of it, though, Sun Lanzhi might make her life worse than death.

Su Changhuan's gaze became much sharper. "What does Lu Shuheng's incident have to do with me?"

Seeing Su Changhuan talk back, Sun Lanzhi stepped up, grabbed Su Changhuan's hand, and demanded louder:

"What do you mean by this? You should be the one inside the coffin in the mourning hall right now, not my husband! Explain to me!"

The voice was deafening, prompting Su Changhuan to quickly shake off Sun Lanzhi's hand. She stood closer to Lu Shuyu and looked at Sun intently and said:

"Cousin-in-law, you and I are sisters-in-law. If I am worse than a pig or a dog, then you are no better than a beast, additionally, what happened to your husband and why should I be in a coffin? You should explain that to me."

"Don't play dumb here! Isn't my husband's blindness a result of your doing? You not only caused my uncle's death but now harmed my husband. If you don't admit it, we will take this to the village head, let the neighbors judge, drive you out of Xiao Wang Village, and pay with your life for my husband’'s!"

The sound of Sun Lanzhi's voice was so high that it seemed ready to pick the roof off.

Su Changhuan didn't match her in volume, retorting:

"Has my cousin gone blind? When did this happen? How come I didn't know? I've been in my room all day, never going out!"

Su Changhuan's face remained calm, a cold smirk at the corner of her mouth, seemingly indifferent to Sun Zhiran's words.

Upon hearing this, Sun Zhiran's anger flared even higher. "Get out of the Lu's house, you disaster!" she yelled, trying to grab and rip at Su Changhuan.

However, Su Changhuan was not a pushover like the old owner. Instead, she boldly exposed their secrets, standing fearless in the face of danger.

"Is that so? Good! I wanted to ask myself about your secretive attempts to poison me, feeding me rat poison. Does that count as attempted murder? Your entire family might just be looking at jail time!"

At these words, Sun Zhiran went dumb. Feeding Su Changhuan rat poison was their collective secret. That was not something to be blurted out.

It could cost them their lives!

She froze for a moment, before hurling another insult back at Su Changhuan.

"You're like your mother. Birth and social standing can't be changed and it's those who accrue too many sins in their previous life who suffer! Having you die alongside them would already be a blessing, and yet you commit such disgusting acts. Dying peacefully is a luxury you can't afford now."

The matter concerning her mother, it was the deepest wound for the original owner and for Su Changhuan as well.

In her prior life, despite the glory Su Changhuan had achieved, she had not been able to share it with her mother. As the saying goes, "a child wished to repay the kindness of his parent, but they were no longer round."

She wouldn't allow anyone to insult her mother.

The malice in Su Changhuan's eyes was something Sun Zhiran had never seen before. Su Changhuan didn't hesitate to slap Sun Zhiran. Sun Zhiran hadn't expected her to dare to raise a hand against her.

She got slapped full force by Su Changhuan. Her cheek swelled up, a fiery, agonizing pain spreading from it.

Right when Sun Lanzhi had barely recovered from the shock and was about to scold Su Changhuan again, a middle-aged woman wielding a rattan cane bustled in. Upon seeing Su Changhuan, she didn't say a word and started hitting her.

"How dare you harm my son, make him blind and infertile! Do you think you can survive by doing this? The Su family sold you to our Lu family; if they wish you dead, you cannot live, do you understand, you bastard!"

The middle-aged woman was acting like a crazy old hag, cursing and hitting at the same time. This madwoman was Lu Shuheng's biological mother, Sun Lanzhi's good mother-in-law, and Lu Shuyu's second aunt.

Su Changhuan was being held off by Sun Lanzhi, but that didn't mean she would tolerate the second aunt's assault. She cunningly stepped aside and used Sun Lanzhi as a shield. The second aunt's cane ended up hitting Sun Lanzhi instead.

Unable to bear the pain, Sun Lanzhi screamed, "Mother, you hit the wrong person, hit her, why are you hitting me?!"

She usually squeezed Sun Lanzhi in various ways, and now Sun Lanzhi countered by turning the tables against her.

The poor original host, who had just married into the family three days ago, had already suffered quite a bit of bullying.

Although the Lu family was not booming, the hierarchy was sternly enforced.

Logically, Sun Lanzhi couldn't defy the second aunt, as she was her elder.

However, now that the second aunt had overstepped the mark, Sun Lanzhi loosened her grip out of pain, and Su Changhuan raised her hand to fight back.

At this point, Lu Shuyu could no longer restrain himself.

"Enough! What are you two fussing about? Su Changhuan is my wife, what does it have to do with you? Who granted you the right to interfere with our affairs?"

With a cold face, Lu Shuyu exuded an imposing aura, and both the second aunt and Sun Lanzhi paused, not daring to act rashly.

Seizing the opportunity, Lu Shuyu reached out and grabbed the second aunt's wrist.
