Hidden Heiress: CEO's Medical Miracle

Chapter 2

After summoning his daughter, Matt told her about the arranged marriage swap. Upon hearing this, Camila stopped her fuss and pretended to run away from home according to her father's scheme.

The next day, Matt instructed his wife to take Rose to the mall to shop for clothes.

Carol was more than happy to spend on her own daughter, but extremely tight fisted when it came to other people. The clothes she picked for Rose were all thrift wears, always selecting the cheapest options. She bought quite a lot of packages, but the actual total cost was not high.

Rose was silent and had a wooden expression. When changing into the cheap new clothes, an expression of surprise appeared on her face, which further disgusted her aunt. Carol thought to herself: Just like a typical ignorant country girl, she's easy to manipulate.

After finishing their shopping and returning home, they saw Matt sitting on the sofa with continuous sighs, looking like he was having a hard time.

Carol quickly asked, "What's wrong, dear? Is the business not going well?" He replied, "The Millers arrived looking for their daughter-in-law. They demanded that we send our daughter over in three days, otherwise they'll force our company into bankruptcy!"

Catching Rose's attention, he raised his voice on purpose, "They are trying to take advantage of us just because they're a wealthy and influential! They insisted on arranging a marriage with our Cami. Because of this, she ran away from home last night. I've been looking for her all day without success. Ah, how am I going to face them now?"

Carol played along with her husband's act, "We can't afford to offend the Millers, but we can't find Cami. If we don't hand her over within three days, not only will we lose everything, but our lives might be in danger!"

Seeing Rose still unmoved, Carol cursed under her breath, "Idiot!"

Matt suddenly grabs Rose's hand pleadingly, "Rosie, your uncle and aunt have been so good to you, you can't just stand by and watch us fall!"

Rose clumsily responded, "But, but I don't know where Cami is. Maybe, I can go out and look for her for you?"

She was so ridiculous that her uncle wanted to explode, he thought, "Who asked you to find Cami? Can't you take the initiative and say you'll marry in her place?"

Still hopeful, he continues to persuade her, "The Miller family is a top-tier wealthy family. Marrying into them means a life of luxury, which is way better than marrying a common man and being exhausted day and night just to make ends meet. Isn't that right, Rosie?"

Like water flowing downhill, Rose nodded, "Yes, that's right."

Matt finally laughed, "So....."

"So, why is Cami running away from the wedding? Uncle Matt, are you asking me to persuade her?" Rose answered seriously, "Alright, I understand. Once I find Cami, I'll try to persuade her."

Matt was furious. Is this girl daft? Can she not understand what people are saying?

Carol pushed Matt aside and said straightforwardly, "Your uncle is not asking you to find your cousin, but for you to marry their son in her place. Look at you, wasting the last decade, unable to finish school or find a respectable job. Instead of having a problematic future, it's better to marry into the wealthy family and enjoy luxury. This opportunity many girls can only dream of, if you were not part of the Hunter family, this opportunity would not have come your way."

Rose saw through their flawed justifications. If their family is that great, why wouldn't Camila marry their son?

She did not point out their deception but played along to her advantage, pretending to be surprised, "Let me...me marry in my cousin's place? Isn't that deceptive?"

"How can that be fraudulent?" asked Matt. "After all, the Millers only said they wanted a daughter from the Hunter family, they didn't specify a granddaughter wasn't acceptable."

"But…..."

"No buts! Think about your past and picture your future as the privileged young Lady of a wealthy family. Your uncle and aunt love you, hence we're providing you this opportunity that comes once in a lifetime."

After such a persuasion, Rose consented.

Husband and Wife exchanged a glance, barely concealing their triumph.

They knew it would be easy to trick this girl. She believed every word and was soon deceived. When she finds out that her partner is a madman and regrets her decision, it won't be their problem anymore.

They took advantage of Rose's father's death years ago. Today, this foolish girl returned, saving their daughter. Utilizing every resource, just as relatives ought to.

Basking in his victory, Matt was suddenly interrupted by Rose's question, "I remember my parents left a house and some life insurance money. Shouldn't these be returned to me now?"

Carol shrieked like a stepped-on cat, "What house? What insurance money?"

Her uncle maintained an apparent calm and presented the lie he had previously prepared: "Indeed, your parents originally had a house and compensation. But then you got lost, remember? At that time, I searched everywhere to find you and had to pay people to inquire about your whereabouts. I spent the money like water. For you, I sold the house and used up all the compensation."

When he found out his niece was missing, he was happy, where would he be bothered to find her? He did, in fact, sell the house, but he used the money for investment and business. Now fish out the money? Impossible.

"I see." Rose nodded, seemingly believing him.

Just as her uncle's hypocritical smile climbed back to the corners of his eyes, Rose suddenly spoke again: "In that case, prepare a dowry for me. After all, as a daughter of this family, it won't be too good to have a too humble marriage. You don't have to give too much, two million will do."

Two million, not too much, not too little, is the total sum of her parents' property and compensation.

Her uncle's smile stiffened, "What did you say?"

What does this girl know about dowry? And is demanding two million right off the bat? Has she seen so much money before? He must have heard wrong.

Rose held out two fingers and said earnestly, "I have thought about it. Two million, not too much not too little. It is not too ostentatious and not too humble. My bank card is from a rural credit cooperative, but it seems to work across banks. I can give you my number now"

Her uncle was stunned. She was actually serious.

Her aunt was about to explode in anger, but at this time, she could only bear with it and said, "Rose, when you marry, you will be the wife of the second son of the Miller family. They are very wealthy and will give you as much money as you want when the time comes."

Rose fluttered her eyes, revealing an innocent but serious expression: "But isn't dowry required when marrying a daughter off? Even we in the countryside do this, let alone a big city? If I don't bring a dowry, won't the Millers suspect that I'm not a real daughter?"

She suddenly showed a bit of fear: "What if they find out I'm fake? I'm scared. If they question me, asking me why my family doesn't provide anything for their daughter's marriage, what would I do? I would definitely spill the beans. No, we must bring my cousin back home. I, I'm scared."
