The Night Everything Changed

Chapter 2

Five years later—

The Hamps Hotel.

"Bethany, Mr Sam of Let's shine Entertainment really values you. You just returned home, and he immediately sent a message, offering to sign you with a two billion contract. He wants to promote you to be the leading lady of Let's shine Entertainment," manager Mac was incessantly praising the thriving media conglomerate Let's shine near Bethany's ear.

And Brown, the President of Let's shine.

"Sam fell in love with you at first sight at the film festival. He publicly praised your acting skills in front of the media. Even he is captivated by you. Your charm is getting larger, Bethany , you're becoming popular at home and abroad."

"He invited you to a party tomorrow night. You should think about it."

After hearing this, Bethany responded indifferently, with a subtle cold laugh, "Oh, I'll definitely think it over."

She looked at her reflection in the sleek elevator mirror.

Her features were charming, bright, and flawlessly exquisite, untouched by any ordinariness.

She no longer looked like the old Bethany .

The reconstructive surgery years ago was very successful.

So successful that even though she was still using her old name, no one would associate her, an international movie star, with the Bethany from five years ago.

The world believed that Bethany , the young miss of the Hamilton family, had died five years ago.

Bethany lazily raised her eyebrow, her gaze radiating indifference.

Philip, Abigail, and the Adams Corporation…

She’s back.

"Ding."

The elevator door opened, and Bethany stepped out with Mac.

"Move out of the way!"

A team of people rushed past them, nearly knocking Bethany over.

Each of them were smartly dressed in formal suits, muscular and imposing, and exuding an aura of stern authority.

The man leading them had a solemn expression, he barked out orders, "Secure the scene! Everyone start searching. Even if we need to turn this place over, we must find her. Otherwise, we're all dead!"

Mac, helping Bethany steady herself, asked in confusion, "What happened here?"

Bethany was not interested, "It has nothing to do with us, let's go."

Mac looked at the hotel entrance, noticing that there was also a crowd making a lot of noise.

"Huh, what's the chaos outside? Could it be the entertainment reporters and fans gathered? Did the media find out that you've returned to the country? I'll go out and check first."

Bethany replied, "Tell the driver to drive the car to the back door of the hotel. I'll wait for you guys at the exit of the secure path."

Mac hurried to check the situation.

The hotel corridor suddenly quieted down.

Bethany pulled her coat closed, and just as she was about to step out, her gaze caught something seemingly hidden behind the tall green plants in the hotel, and it was moving.

Her steps suddenly halted, and she called out with caution, "Who's there? Who's hiding?"

The small figure got scared, scurrying backward, and a plaintive whimpering came out barely audible.

Bethany felt puzzled, she tiptoed around to the back of the plants.

Unexpectedly, she found a little girl sitting on the floor, hugging her knees and bowing her head.

Bethany was taken aback, "Child, why are you hiding here all alone?"

Upon hearing the voice, the little Princess stopped crying and looked up at Bethany .

She was about four or five years old, with big, almond-shaped eyes, extremely adorable like a little porcelain doll intricately carved and polished.

Her eyes were full of tears. She was pouting, her body covered in dirt, looking like she had suffered great injustice.

She seemed to evoke so much pity from onlookers.

Boom--

When Bethany's gaze fell on her face, it felt as though something in her heart collapsed with a bang, and a wave of inexplicable heartache washed over her.

Instinctively, she was reminded of the baby she lost five years ago.

If her baby was still here, she would probably look similar to the little girl in front of her.
