The Indulgent Second Miss

Chapter 2

Shang Yeze and Fish YuYou were about to get started when an unexpected visitor appeared, catching them off guard. Before they could react, they saw An Xiaoyu's hand raised, about to strike down. As they prepared to take action, a huge change occurred in the world around them.

What had been a pleasant, sunny weather turned into a thick congregation of dark clouds. The wind began to howl and a huge vortex formed between the earth and the sky, taking An Xiaoyu completely off guard. Her body was swept up and her eyes instinctively closed.

What was going on?

But not long afterwards, she passed out.

When she came to, she could hear laughter. Opening her eyes, she nearly fell over. Before she could react, she heard the sounds of skirts being tugged and nearby laughter grew even louder. But she paid no attention to that because landings with her was a small, non-descript bead. She picked it up and was about to inspect it when she lost her balance and ended up soaked.

Splash! Splash!

After a few struggles, she managed to stand up and found the lake was only waist deep. Her drenched look had the onlookers laughing even harder.

Lifting her gaze, An Xiaoyu was met with the sight of people leisurely dressed in ancient-style clothing. She was left stunned. Was this a movie set?

One of them then said, “Miss Lou, even if our Prince doesn't want you anymore, you don't have to commit suicide by jumping into the river!”

"Yeah, Miss Lou, if you're going to drown yourself, at least find somewhere deeper. Look, the water doesn’t even reach your waist. We think, you don't have to prove to us so dramatically how much you don't want the Prince to divorce you!”

"Miss Lou, how does the river water taste?"

They all looked at her and called her Miss Lou. An Xiaoyu blinked. She was sure her last name was An!

She seemeds to have noticed something. Looking around, she found the water exceptionally clear, the trees remarkably green, and even the air felt great. There couldn't have been places like this in modern times.

She tried to recall what happened. She remembered being at the seaside park and hearing the news that her boyfriend and best friend had betrayed her. That's when it hit her.

"Where is she?

Where is she?

But after searching for a while, I couldn't find her. Instead, I heard people saying: "Fifth Princess, do you think she's become foolish from despair and suicide by jumping into the river?"

"I suppose that might be the case. Suicidal or foolish would be better. How could such a woman possibly become the wife of my elder brother, the Crown Prince?"

An Xiao Yu suddenly recognised this predicament, could it be that she had transmigrated?

The corner of her mouth twitched. If it really was the case, that would be incredibly cliché. She had watched many dramas about travels to the past. She had even yearned for such experiences, but that was television, how could it be real?

If it really happened to her, it seemed she could only accept her fate.

Standing in the water, not a single person came to help her. She deeply felt the selfishness of the people here, but it didn't matter. After discovering her dear boyfriend's affair with her best girlfriend, she wasn't holding onto any hope.

Slowly stepping out from the water, she found a small bead in her hand. She casually tucked it into her waist and arrived by the riverbank just to see a young maid looking anxiously at her:

"Miss, Miss, are you alright? I'll pull you up."

So, this was her personal maid? Her looks weren't bad. Although she wasn't stunningly beautiful, her performance earned her some points in An Xiao Yu's books.

An Xiao Yu simply responded, "No need, I can get up myself."

Who would have thought, as soon as she got up, everyone looked dumbfounded, including the little maid who momentarily forgot what she was supposed to do and just exclaimed:

"Miss!"

What's the matter?

She could clearly sense something but all she had done was soak her entire body. Surely, they wouldn't react this way for that alone.

Following their gaze towards her legs, she realized her pale legs were showing. As a modern woman, she didn't mind, since she often wore hot pants. However, in this time and place, a woman's body seemed highly valued. Such an exposure would likely shock anyone.

Just then, a voice rang out: "The Emperor is here!"
