Along came the Cutie!

Chapter 2

Cora hung up the call, looking at Scarlet she let out a heavy sigh, ‘Madam said she will be here in a minute or two, she is just around the block.’

Scarlet looked at her and asked ‘Even after so many years you believe her when she says she is around the block? Such a fool. Let me guess, her reason for being late must be traffic, isn’t it? Why can’t she come up with something new for once?’

‘This time she did. One new excuse got added to the list. Apparently, she got distracted while walking and got bumped by a car door. Can you believe this, of all the reasons she could think of, she thought of this?’ Cora took a sip of her drink and replied.

‘Do you think she will manage to finish her internship at Smith Aviation’s with her time management skills. I am pretty sure they will kick her out within a week.’ Scarlet said worriedly.

Listening to this Cora couldn’t control and started laughing. As she was laughing, she heard the bell at the entrance of the café, she peeked from her booth and saw a very heavily panting Amelia was coming their way.

‘What are you laughing about so loudly? I could hear it from outside the café.’ asked Amelia as she made her way to the booth.

‘Scar was predicting how long you will manage to stay at Smith’s.’

Amelia faked a gasp and looked at Scarlet,’ How mean of you, I haven’t even started and you are already planning my farewell. So much for being friends. Huh’

‘You should be feeling lucky that me and Cora have not yet arranged for your funeral for making us wait for this long. Dude, an hour late! This must be your new record.’

Amelia was still panting so Cora offered her a glass of water. After drinking a mouthful of water, she started, ‘Scar trust me this time it was not entirely my fault. The roads were completely blocked, not a single vehicle was moving. So, after a little thought I started to walk, but to my bad luck a car that was parked suddenly opened its door and it hit me.’

‘Don’t tell me you fought with the person who opened the door.’ asked Cora.

‘I intended to but I could not. When I turned, you know what I saw?’ Even thinking about that adorable kid brought a big smile to her face. ‘It was a small kid. He had no idea I was outside so when he opened the door it hit me. Guys he has to be the most adorable kid that I have ever seen. He had these huge hazel eyes and unkempt blond hair. He looked at me and said ‘I am sorry auntie’ looking at that face how I could scold him.’

‘Anyway, he said sorry, what else could you say to the kid. Listening to your description alone I want to pull his cheeks.’ Said Scarlet.

After listening to all this Cora said, ‘Everything aside, my goddess, make sure to leave the house tomorrow on time or else the consequences might not be good.’

‘Don’t worry Cora mom is there to wake me up and I will have my car tomorrow so I won’t be late.’

‘Mr. Brown is still not letting you move out huh? We both live together; it would have been so much fun if all three of us could be roommates. We could have had so much fun.’ Said Scarlet.

‘So true Scar. I wished for that too but you know it right, Mr. Kumar in his office brainwashed my dad to not let me move out so soon. I am 22 already, how is this soon? He told my dad that if I live with them then they can protect me from bad influences. It was not enough that he did that with his own daughter he had to do with me too.’ said Amelia and let out a sigh.

‘He also gave my dad a whole spreadsheet of how much money I will be saving if I don’t live alone.’

Listening to this Cora said, ‘That’s true that you will be saving a lot of money that way and anyway we are not the rebel kind so it’s not going to be a big deal for you to live with your parents for a little bit more. But I would really appreciate it if you keep your dad away from ours, I don't want our dads to get brainwashed.’

Scarlet nodded her head in agreement and laughed out loud. Just then the food arrived and Amelia started to have a go at the sandwiches.

Looking at her Cora said,’ You know that nobody will be stealing your food right? Eat slowly or you will end up choking on them.’

Amelia looked nothing less than a chipmunk at the moment who was trying to stuff all it could in a single bite. Scarlet took out her phone and sneakily tried to click a picture of the stuffed face of her cute friend. Amelia noticed this and shouted, ‘Hey don’t do this Scar. I am just too hungry from all the speed walking I had to do to reach here. Please don't take a picture, Cora tell her to delete this picture!’

Scarlet just turned on the selfie and faced it towards themselves. Just smile Theodore, just smile.

…Amelia just glared at her.
